Pretty Poem

You say that you love rain,
but you use an umbrella to walk under it...
You say that you love the sun,
but you seek shade when its shining...
You say that you love the wind,
But you close your windows when it comes...
This is why I am afraid;
when you say you love me...

So I found this poem while surfing about on the internet and no one seems to know who it's by... Some say Shakespeare and others, Bob Marley. To me... it doesn't seem like the work of either. Regardless, what a beautiful little poem. :)

Interesting how we say we love something, but it turns out that love is dependent on circumstances. Can we generalize this for love among humans? Perhaps we can. A love for another human being might be dependant on the person we think they are whether they might be a friend, sibling or lover. Again falling into that subjective world we create for ourselves. We have an idea of a person based on their acts and consistent behaviour, but that is not the whole of their personality, it is just what we have witnessed from it. So how much of a person do we really know without getting to sit inside their litto noggin? Maybe not much. Since we create their personality from what we have collected... and from our own evaluations of them (which are made in relation to past experiences dealing with different types of people). So maybe we love the idea of them that we create for ourselves. And maybe when their character is outside of the idea we made... we "use an umbrella and walk under it".

But it is true that we will move away from even the things that we love if they cause discomfort... quite a natural response.

mmm... interesting concept :)
